Hi Everyone,
I just got back from picking up a case of Mr Chubbs from the West Berks Brewery (http://www.wbbrew.com/home.html). They were mashing at the time and the smell took me back to my childhood (I grew up in Burton Upon Trent) and made me think about starting brewing again. So here I am on the forum.
I used to live in Santa Cruz, California, and although there were a couple of good microbreweries there, I was pining for a pint of non-carbonated pub ale, so through necessity I got into home brewing. There is a very good organic brewing supply shop there called Seven Bridges (http://www.breworganic.com/ which has some good grain/extract combination kits that gave me pretty good results, especially when delivered under low pressure from a corny keg. I've been back in the UK fro a few years now, and think it's about time I dusted off (and sterilized) the old beer making equipment. Does anyone know of any combination grain/extract recipes that I could source ingredients for here in the UK? Otherwise I'm about to jump into all grain, it's about time.
My dad used to work for Bass, project-managing plant installations in many Bass breweries, so he certainly knows about the equipment, although only on a much larger scale! I also got to work for Bass in the summer holidays as a student. Great job, especially the Friday afternoon tasting sessions.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting back into this. Thanks in advance for the help and advice that I'm sure to need in the coming months!
Cheers,
Mark

Welcome to the forum Moff :drink: :drink:

It seems All Grain is the way to go. I've been quite happy with most kit results I've had, but am about to dip my toe into the world of AG brewing, and I'm assured I'll never go back to kits....

Just harvested 1.2kg of goldings hops from the vine in my garden. I knew it would come in useful sometime! They're drying out in the garage then I'll stick them in the freezer ready for some brewing action. Watch this space!
