Hi all,

look for the bear necessities, the simple bear necessities, forget about your worries and your strife.
my bear necessity is beer.... :thumb:

I am new to beer brewing, I like bombadier, directors courage, banana beer, London pride etc but do not know what type of beers they are i.e. stout, bitter, mild, (i did look on wikipedia but nothing?)

Anyhooo, I would like to brew my own beer and would like any help and advice on how I can do this
I would like to know which type of kit to buy and how I can get the type of flavours (not exactly of course) of the above.

any ideas would be really well appreciated.

Hi bear
There are many kits out there I think you would like the woodfolds werry you can get a full kit with a beer kit and a brewing kit that will make you up to 40 pints for around £70 and the good kits will be around £20 for a 40 pint kit there after hope this help you bear

Hi bear it all depends how advanced your prepared to go there are some decent kits around or you can go for extract brewing or AG obviously cost is also an issue

Welcome Bear. Agree with the above. If you haven't already get yourself a starter kit. Try to get one where you add the beer kit of your choice. Then you can add a Woodfordes Wherry or try a Coopers Ale. If you go for a Coopers then use Beer Enhancer rather than granulated sugar. This is a mixture of glucose and spray malt. The Woodfordes kits are 2 tin and don't need extra sugar. Both will give you a really good pint of bitter. You do need to let them mature for about a month and they get better with time.

Hi all,

many thanks for the responsed bobsbeer you mentioned to "to get one where you add the beer kit of your choice" do you have any names of stores that would supply such a thing?

Again any assistance would be great

Also, how long will the beer last for in a cask/ bottle?

You could try our forum sponsor The HomeBrew Company.

If you have a local homebrew shop then pop along and have a word with them - they will also be able to sort you out with all the required equipment and kits.
