Gawd. Folk are now looking for racism where none exists 'to draw attention' to themselves. Whassup with the guy, career starting to flag or summat?

I think it's a terrible advert. I couldn't call it racist. I assume that if you are always looking to use the word "lighter" in colour context, then maybe you infer a racist undertone.

Yea, its a terrible advert, and I can see how people make the connection, but I think Mr Rapper is talking coblers if he thinks it was deliberate. How on earth that got past QC though is beyond me.

That’s his point though, that they knew what they were doing and did it anyway ‘for clicks’. I see where he’s coming from but I’d go for the most likely scenario, that everyone involved really was just that stupid.

Couldn’t see the ad...don’t want to...but companies don’t put out purposeful racist or whatever ads....who’s running Heineken...a wizard in the sheets? The SS old comrades club..?
More rubbish....

Heineken. They have a darn good lot of daughter companies, but their Heineken beer is how I expect horsepiss to taste.

In fairness to heiniken their horsepiss improved when they stopped brewing in in the uk and shipping it in to the uk in tankers for packaging only. It was european spec horsepiss rather than uk spec. :laugh8:

The message in the add is clear... Aimed at white women and not for black men... If the men that were passed by the beer weren't all black, I'd say fare enough, it would just be sexist and not racist and sexist. Advertising is very powerful. Perhaps if the add was for a bus company, with white women in front seats and black men in the back, it would be obvious. This add is no different.

Weird. I could have sworn that the message of the add was that: When you're at a hot tropical party with cool sophisticated people, an ice cold refreshing lite beer that you can drink and enjoy is a better choice than a strongly alcoholic drink that you don't dare consume least you embarrass yourself - with the subliminal that slimmer and still sober is a good idea in social situations.
"Lighter is better".
