I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good Hefeweizen kits?

Hi,

there are a lot of different Hefeweizen 'kits' available in the German Web section. But it's all in German not in English. I just had a look at a few German websites whether they have Hefeweizen recipes in English. Nothing, only German.

If you really need something I can translate it for you.

Cheers,
Norbert

Tried a few of the kits and so long as you go with a kilo of sugar and 500gof wheat spraymalt for 23liters, they all turn out pretty nice at the 5%ish mark. They are a heavier drink so they will finish at a gravity above 1.012. So starting gravity needs to be 1.048 upwards for a decent percentage:) done a few muntons connoisseurs:) they work nicely

AG is calling - i would get cheapo AG equipment if only to make a decent Hefeweizen.

Really easy, extremely cheap and if you use the right yeasts & temperatures you will get a wheat beer which is on a par with Franciskaner / Paulaner etc

I didn't like to say but i haven't really tasted a decent hefe kit , but you can make a decent extract version in equipment is an issue , just 3kg of dried wheat malt (it's 50% barley 50% wheat malt) for a 23ltr brew and around 20g of hersbrucker hops at 60 mins boil and 15g at 15 mins left to go
