I had a go at a bottle of this last night after taste put me in mind of old peculiar and got me to thinking there might be heather flowers in the Masham mix... Pretty sure there'll be heather aplenty on the Yorkshire moors.

i think abey's done this.

it is good. they come out at the end of summer/autumn I think, you can even find them in gardens, maybe people would be easily persuaded with a few bottles :thumb:

think i got a recipe in "booze for free." will check when ican find it...

I made a heather and Honey ale, it is real good :thumb:

I found some heather on the side of the road near me, look and you will find...I think it grows most places and I beleive you get winter, spring and autumn flowering plants...

yeah I brewed an extract heather beer a few years ago and it was nice but it would be even better with an AG beer. will hopefully pick some this year. i think the key is adding most of the heather either late in the boil or at flameout. Fraoch is sublime!

I had a Scottish heather ale (no hops at all) beer the other year. It was nice but I'd not want more than one :thumb:
