Hi Dan,

I'm no expert on Wine but yeast tends to get upset if you vary the temp too much - too hot and it can produce nasty tastes - too cold and it can go dormant. Ideally you'd keep the temp stable.

The temp in a loft is likely to be anything but stable I would reckon :hmm:

Thanks for replys!

So concluded need to move some where else other than loft! dont have central heating so no radiators in house! Been looking at heat mats, whats the best to get? the homebrew specialist ones seem expensive for what they are and have no way of controling temp unless you buy a thermostat and they are about same price as a mat!, would a reptile heat mat with thermostat work?

i woudl imagine they woudl be ideal, then again so would and electric blanket!!
I think that wilko's might be your best bet for an electric heating belt....maybe there's also something in a garden centre as well, propagator or something on those lines mate!!
Good luck!

I 'won' a reptile heatmat and thermostat on ebay this morning £25 so much cheaper than 'made for brewing ones', so thats my constant heat solution sorted, and have got a quite area in the kitchen for the brewing :)

Its all set up and working! i can fit 6 demijohns on or 5gal Fermenter and two demijohns on! its fantastic!!
