Hi All,
My previous batches of stout have had very poor head, in an attempt to improve this, I bought some heading powder this time. Has anyone got experience of using this powder? I'm a bit reluctant to use it in case it ruins the beer as the other batches tasted fine (albeit headless). Also when and how do you add it? The wording on the back of the pack is a bit weird....
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Nik

Welcome to the forum :thumb:

I've not used heading powder personally.

A few questions that might help work out why there isn't a head on your stout though..

Kit or All Grain?
How are you serving it?
How are you priming it?

Hi Wez,

Have been using kits only so far, serving it from the bottle. I have primed the bottles with .5-1tsp of regular sugar each. Some of the beers ended up with absolutely no head and others just a tiny bit.

Thanks,
Nik

Ok, which sort of kits are you using, are you using the ones that you have to add sugar to when you make the kit up?

The problem batches have been ones where you add sugar (i again just added regular sugar) but this most recent batch is not. I thought i would try a different one to see if it would be any better. Nearly at bottling stage with this one.
