put this together so thought id share :

1x wilco stout kit
1x h&b malt extract
1kg brewing sugar
300g packet of blackcurrant & liquorice sweets (boiled in a pan with water)

OG 1.050

lobbed all in to FV and left it to it .

Hi!
I suppose it depends on the quality of the sweeties. I have eaten blackcurrant & liquorice that were so artificial that they were binned after the first one.

Iv been trying to come up with a blackcurrant and liquorice stout recipe for ages and looking at this i may give this a bash. Probably double up on the sweets and play about with the malts. Could even add some lactose to sweeten it up and a dry hop of some sorts
Love to find out how this turns out

I bottled this, yesterday and so far im well chuffed ,

its as black as a very black thing at night.
nice malty stout taste, liquorice is stronger than the blackcurrant but it is there as an very good undertone. and is surprisingly sweet. first sip was very strong with liquorice but it is not over powering through the rest of the glass.

@Alside101 , if you think the liquorice flavour will mellow / disappear during conditioning then maybe go for two packets, if it is likely to remain constant then maybe stick with just the one !

finished at almost bang on 1.000.

made a bit of a school boy error as i bottled most of it in 2l PETs. so 4 pints at a time is going to take a bit of drinking !!
