Been brewing beer for around 6 months and have had real bad migraines once a month for the last three months.

Prior to this i have not had a migraine for over 20 years so was wondering if anyone thinks that there may be something to this theory or that it is purely coincidence.

My brews are all around 4% and i have 2-3 pints, 3 days a week so definately not an excessive drinker.

I wouldn't have said that was anything to so with the beer, especially with the amount your drinking. Saying that Budweiser used to give me a sore head after 4 or 5 bottles so maybe there is something in it.

I also wouldn't put it down to the brew.

Unless of course you are suffering from brewing too hot and you've got fusel alcohols being produced maybe?

Can you keep your brewing to 18oC and see if that helps?

It may also be that you might have one brew with high levels of fusels? Stick to one brew for a while, then a different one... and see what happens?

Never had a bad head or even a bad hang over after home brew beers or TC, although i've certainly felt there rapid effects.
Even Mrs KC is amazed (she's usually like an extra from the thriller video after a few too many) how un-affected she is.
As for Budweiser, when i was a sappling out and about in the merrie city of a weekend, "Bud Head" was synonymous with a good night out and getting thoroughly refreshed!!!
What is it about certain beers (bud in particular)? i put it down to chemicals or preservatives etc but i really have no idea!!!

I agree - I have never had a hangover the day after drinking HB.

Take this week I last had a drink on Saturday night, felt fine on Sunday and Monday and Tuesday and then got a killer Migraine on Weds / Thurs / Fri - so can safely assume its not the HB - just wanted to see if anyone else had the same thing really ;)

Hopefully be better by tonight so i can have a lovely HB - first one for 6 days.

Is it a migraine or a bad headache?
Sorry to ask but it is like a lot of people saying they have flu when it is really just a cold.
The two are really significantly different.

I suffered severe migraines from childhood until around 35 year old ish, and for some odd reason they stopped. I drink more than my fair share of HB, and no headache. When i used to get the migraines i would lay in a darkened room, take tablets, and have a basin beside the bed to throw up in. Sometimes lasted 2 days. lay off drinking HB for a couple of weeks and see if the headaches stop and i wish you good luck with this problem, as ive been there bigtime. :thumb:

Agree. Never ever been hungover with HB but will have a pounding headache if on pub beer.

Never had any sort of headache with any beers I've drunk over the years, until I had Worthington's keg (was the only beer they had in a pub the skittle team played at). Every time I had it (not much) I ended up with a bad head, but never with any other beer....

...until yesterday, 1.5 pints of my latest brew (4.5%) and felt like I'd been on an all-night session. Wasn't brewed at that high a temp eithe 'cos it's winter. That was my 30th brew and all other have been fine...strange.

Quick update. Been in hospital for 2 days with pneumonia, sinusitis and two ear infections along with the migraine.

None of which were caused by HB :-D

Now got 2 boxes of antibiotics which do not say AVOID ALCOHOL on them anywhere:-D

My views on my electric cig has changed though and that is now in the bin!!
