hawthorn berries

As there are a lot of hawthorn berries in the hedgerows at the moment,just wondering, as you can make wine and fruit leather with them, has anyone used them as a beer ingredient (biab)

The red Hawthorn berries are not the best of things to be eating but there's a wine recipe here ...

I've recently used Rowan Berries instead of Hops to bitter a small extract brew. It tastes okay but it doesn't look as if it will clear this side of the New Year!

Thanks, I've never thought of using rowan for bittering, only for wine.
