Made up a Youngs lager from the brew buddy kit. Bottled last weekend into 1/2 pint Stella bottles and a few old 500ml Coke bottles (for testing purposes honestly). Anyway, the Coke bottles felt fairly hard so lobbed one in the fridge for quality control purposes.

Oh my god! I was expecting something quite nasty but it really was ok. In fact, better than ok. Not a great deal of carbonisation but I guess that'll take a a few further weeks, but a nice head, fresh flavour and no nasty aftertaste.

So, kicked of a Coopers Aussie lager tonight with 1kg of Muntons enhancer tonight so feel very optimistic about that having tasted the "cheapo" brew this evening. Good thing as I have 50 more bottles of the Youngs lager to drink...

my coopers have been bottled for 4 days (not sure how it will taste as my ferm temp. was at the higher end of the scale), earlier tonight though i started my coopers mexican cervza, whoop-whoop for the cheap kits

The Coopers's glubbing away quite happily at the mo. Going to test another bottle of the Youngs later on in the week. All the wines made recently (Wine No 1's and variants) are all getting to drinkable stage so finally getting to the stage where production will meet demand (another 6 gals of assorted wines on the go) and won't be having to as much alco from the shops as I'm used to.

Whoopla!

hi there i am getting my pal into home brewing and he wanted a larger style so i bought him that coopers mexican for him as i heard alot of good reports for a kit brew, ready to bottle in a day or so,so intresting to see wat it turns out like?? jus bottled a 7 day wine kit a pinot style and to my suprise it just isnt that bad act quite quaffable lol!! was just intrested to see wat they like,il def do another wen this runs out

My first brew of coopers aussie lager made as instructions with dextrose tasted tangy for a few weeks in grolsch bottles but now after 5 weeks its superb.now making woodfordes wherry best bitter but 9 days and still slowly fermenting at 1015.

Dextrose instead of granulated sugar or for priming? The Coopers is only my third attempt at brew (first was Youngs Ale - bloody awful, second the lager). Popular opinion seems to suggest the enhancer is well worth it. I suspect dextrose won't offer much flavour over normal sugar? Not that I know anything of course, and the internet does seem to make us all experts.... ;)

My Coopers will be going into saved Peroni and Grolshe bottles (filling up the 284ml Stella bottles took a VERY long time!)
