Guinness Stout Clone Colour- 28 SRM too low?

I am going to make a Guinness clone next brew using standard 7:2:1 ratio of pale malt/flaked barley/roasted barley. Well anyway when I put numbers into berrtools I get an SRM of about 28. I am wondering is that a bit low or is it acceptable? Was thinking of adding a bit of choc to darken more but also wary of making it too roasty.

28 is a bit low. Stouts are normally 60+ (see here). Having never done a Guinness clone, and not having my other stout recipes to hand I can't really tell you what to do though.

Although that does seem a little low, I used to make stout to that ratio regularly and it always turned out fine :thumb:

thanks folks, hopefully make this brew next. Nice link for colour chart. So about 35 srm for stouts, about 29 srm does not look too far off though.

Just realised that I was thinking in EBCs too.
