Would somebody on here be kind enough to write a guide on grains and hops. For all us newbies on here who havnt got a clue. I don't know if one already exists but a guide to the different characteristics of hop and grain varieties. I'm thinking of doing some partial brews but have no idea which grains and hops would be suitable. A guide on yeasts might be helpful too ;) anyway if your up for the challenge and you have the know how then please help us. Thanks in advance

You might find this site useful. I'm sure some of the more experienced members on here could do much better but this is a useful start for what you're after :thumb:

Thanks Dave that is very useful. Still think this forum could do with a detailed guide written by home brewers for home brewers :)

The brewpaks site is good I also recommend look at one of the forum sponsors, the maltmiller at the top of the page. He has more variety than brewpacs and Rob is a brewer himself.

One useful thing about the Brewpaks and Maltmiller descriptions is they give you a maximum percentage to use in your grist. This can be helpful for new brewers as it's easy to over do the specialist malts and ruin a beer.

Thanks all very useful info. Going to be interesting doing my first partial in the next couple of weeks. Will let you all know my grain/hop choices before hand for a bit of feedback. Thanks
