Anyone else use these? I realize they are more a US thing. But I bought 12 of these 1L growers from this ebay seller

A little expensive I know but I figued they'd be an investment. I don't have room for kegs/cornies and bottling can a bit of a pain, so the bigger the bottle the better.
I thought these would be good for my session beers (beers I like my stouts or ordinary bitters), when I know I'm going to drink at least the equivalent of 3-4 of my normal 330ml bottles in an evening. I can just open a growler pour the beer into a jug and just keep topping up my pint glass.

The piccy doesn't do the growler service. They look really good 'in the flesh'. Total bottle ****

The customer service was top notch too. Stuart the seller got back to me each time I had questions within 2 hours of me posting a message. He also does swing top bottles and regular 500ml beer bottles as well as 2L growlers

Let us know how they go. Look great. I just rarely drink that much in one sitting these days. Or standing for that matter. I'm an old aged lightweight.

The seller seems a nice bloke, collected some stuff off him a few weeks ago as I was I the area

He does a whole range of bottles at what look like reasonable prices

Real nice looking bottle, some price though

Still, good investment if you take care of them. Funny how a quality bottle (or even glass) can make a beer taste better, compared to an old manky smartprice plastic lemonade bottle :drink:

Your right a the whole ceromony of opening a nice looking glass bottle and pouring a beer into good glassware increases the enjoyment of a beer. I think there's a reason beer isn't sold in plastic bottles with screw tops, even though there probably cheaper o produce

I like them but a little more than I want to pay at this stage. :)

Definately a bit of a teat for myself. Not the kind of thing your going to buy straight off the bat when your putting your first lot of HB kit together

Lovely though. Unpacked them earlier this eve and put the swing tops on. Spent about 5 mins just looking at them all lined up ready to be filled with beer. :ugeek:

I arranged to buy 40 Grolsch bottles of someone for a $1 each (about 50p).

When I got to his place it turned out he was English, so we talked football etc. Then he got the Grolsch bottles and also threw in a couple of other things. He had these 1.5 Litre Grolsch bottles sat on a shelf. I asked how much. We agreed an extra $10 for 3 or 4 bottles of the large Grolsch bottles and a few more regular size.

I opened one of my 1L swing top growlers a couple of days ago poured out about a half then resealed it. I've just open it again to pour out the second half and was pleasantly surprised to find it still was just as carbonated as the first half.
In fact when I opened the swing top it still had that satisfying 'pop' you get with swing tops.

This is the first time I've tried this opening then resealing with the growler, and am very pleased with it. Means I don't 'have' to drink all 1L in one go if I don't want to

Been looking at some of the 750ml swing tops on ebay. Would make bottling day so much easier, 15 for ~£32. Bought a 1L glass growler one drunken evening in brewdog. Had a pint from it the following day then another a few days later, held onto its carbonation really well.

Would you use the Growlers in place of bottles after fermentation? Or dispense your home brew into the Growler from your keg?
Mebbe both :)

I inherited a couple of 2 litre growlers from my dad's mate who had got them as a novelty from a microbrewery on holiday and they were just gathering dust. I'm planning on trying them out with my next brew.
