Hello all

I've gone the opposite route to most people

I am a distiller moving into beer (built my own still etc...) been doing it for about 3 years

I ferment my washes in 200L barrels, but will be doing my beer in 30L barrels as 200L of beer is ALOT of beer for a man that hardly drinks...

I use an old 250L chest freezer with a heat pad in it as an insulation fermentation box, can get about 180L in different barrels in there at a constant 22C

Mainly here to learn more about yeast, and move into All grain slowly

My flatmate works at the speights brewery here in Dunedin, so we get free grains and malt every now and again (have 25kg of caramalt at the moment)

Look forward to helping out and learning :)

Welcome to the forum.

One thing though - distilling is legal where you are but not where the forum's based - no discussion of it allowed.

You'll get lots of good info about making beer here though!

Yeah figured as much :)

I do Like the layout of this gforum as it is the same as the other one i'm on for distilling, feels like a second home to me, and lots of good writeups.

Get into it.
