I found this forum when i needed some tips and tricks for my first brew in August. This seemed like a fantastic comunity for experiences and newbies to brewing. I found some American websites, but i really enjoy talking to people from the UK.

So, here we go. I started brewing because i really enjoy beer and Norway is a really horrible country for alcohol in general. Commercials about alcohol and tobacco isn't allowed, so there aren't that wide variety of brands, and everything costs ALLOT (A six pack of decent (far from great) beer costs about 20-25 pounds)

Enough about that. I live in a small town named "Lillehammer" in the lower east of Norway and I'm 18 (legal drinking age bellow 22% here). I really enjoy music, lots of different kinds but mostly rock/punk/grunge from 80's to the late 90's. I play guitar in a band, and i do some hobby music/studio production.

I'm currently done with school, and I'm trying to get a good job, and so far everything seems to work out fine!

The beer types I'm into is light (in color) with low - medium hop bitterness; like Budweiser and Corona, also Becks (Not sold in Norway :x ), but I'm trying to get into the dark side!

I really enjoy brewing so far, and it seems like a really interesting hobby.

Thank you guys for all the useful information so far! Cheers

Welcome to the forum Rukula.

Once you get brewing the right way, 20 - 25 pounds will be nearly enough for you to bathe in it, never mind drink it !! :drunk:

Enjoy your stay here, the forum members are a great crowd.

Cheers Neil

Does that imply that you are old enough to drink beer and wine but you have to be older to be able to buy spirits (if you could ever afford to) ?

I've never been to Norway, although my parents went there several times and absolutely loved the country and its people. However, I follow Winter sports, particularly the Nordic disciplines of jumping, cross-country and biathlon, so I know the name of Lillehammer very well.

In answer to your other question, I'm guessing that even if you have recycling centres beer bottles might be pretty scarce, but you can re-use any plastic bottles which have held fizzy drinks.

Welcome to the forum

Welcome to the forum mate

£20 for a 6 pack!!! Thats crazy! I though the prices in the UK were high! Just think of all the young ladies you can share your homebrew with and play your guitar to while saving lots of money! Your definatly onto a winner! :thumb:

That's right. I can still drink stuff like Baileys, Malibu and so on, so i have a decent selection. However, i really enjoy the browns; like Whiskey and Cognac. Guess it's ok to wait tho...

Velkommen Rukula,
I was lucky enough to visit your beautiful country earlier this year so I've seen at first hand Norwegian alcohol prices. I'm still traumatised! And upland roads still full of snow at the end of May - it's enough to turn anyone to drink!
Seriously though, - welcome kiddo!
