Setting up slowly to my first brew with a grainfather - the kit comes with a load of tap adaptors but none seem to fit my tap (unless I'm being a bit dim) which I attach a picture of. I can't see any kind of thread on the tap

I'm guessing I will need a different tap adaptor to hook up to the chiller - anyone got any ideas that might work? This is all that stands the way of my first brew (though I could just dump it in the FV hot and wait for it to cool...)

How about using one of these in conjunction with the appropriate connection fitting to your hose
https://www.hozelock.com/product/round-mixer-tap-connector/

I've been staring at that for half an hour having stumbled across it. I just can't work out how to connect the grainfather to it. The gf comes with the same end when what I need is the female version if the connector, I think

(Also, two threads of mine where you are the first to respond - thank you!)

The two parts on the cf chiller came with the gf, so I got a hozelock tap adaptor, a bit of hose and two female connectors, cable tied the cf chiller end just to keep it secure.

If you get a couple of metres of this https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/silicone-tubing-12mm-id/
It fits tight over the hozelock tap adaptor nipple as well, so you can fill your gf and HLT straight from the hot tap. Also you’ll never go back to pvc tube again, trust me.

Then! If you cut a short length of said silicone say 10cm, fit it tight on the tap adaptor, the gf counterflow chiller wort tube fits snug inside so you can flush the wort out the chiller to your hearts content. Bingo.

I've just bought a few metres - thanks for the tip!

Today is assembly day (trying to build the thing and make sure I've got the parts) before brewing tomorrow.

There's a weird thing stuck around the inner base of the gf (see photo). Is that meant to be there or us it packaging?

I got the bits and bobs from screwfix for the hose connection, but got the wrong tap connector (18mm instead of 24mm) so will pop back later

I can't quite see the bottom end of the tap from the picture you posted. However, I suspect that the last piece on the bottom of it will unscrew - the end piece contains a small plastic filter that should be cleaned periodically, BTW. If it does unscrew, then the supplied T shaped connector should screw in its place. This would obviate the need to set up a B&Q display for hose connectors!

The one advantage if the collection of hoses was that it made filling all the vessels with liquids incredibly simple. Plus, I'd already bought it!

OK it looks like OP has an identical tap to me and I use one of these adaptors.

What I found is that the hozelock adaptor was slightly too small and wouldn't stay on the tap.

My suggestion, should you have the same problem, is that if you look inside the adaptor you will see it is ribbed (for extra sensation...:) ).

If you take a sharp stanley knife you can shave off some plastic from each of these ribs without compromising the structure of it. Depending on the size of the tap it should solve the problem. Actually, because I was able to pare it to size it has resulted in a perfect snug fit.
