Don’t think that includes the lid but is a pressure transfer kit. Not sure how it works so might have to look into it or give it a go. So far all I’ve done is to attach a hose barb to the lid and apply 1psi pressure and it immediately leaked so not sure how the pressure transfer kit works. Maybe it’s just a glorified siphon?

There's 2 way to use it, 1st as you mentioned above, just a bit more fancy way
2nd for example if your dump valve is blocked, or if you want so, you can use the long stainless pipe, by replacing the cap and set it to the desired height, then apply pressure and you can transfer your beer from the top trough the long pipe, i never used that way, as I think, to clean and sanitise that long bent pipe just don't wort the effort.

This is a really useful thread, thank you all.
I'm still fermenting in a cupboard and planning to upgrade to something controlled in the new year... It sounds like my old fridge will do the job!

Picked up the GF conical and cooling tubes and now looking forward to trying it out on my next brew.
Will it prove to be better than my current set up and make better beer? I doubt it, but it does does look much nicer.

I'm sure you gonna enjoy it

This is my set up, cost is no where near the cost above, Apollo fermenter, a Maxi Thermentor King the cooling/ heating coil, the jacket and away you go. About 300GBP.

I love my GF fermenter and glycol chiller - The temperature control is insane and I love watching it on my phone.
Cost a lot of money, but I saved up for a long time and sold off old equipment and it's well worth it to me. I've never had a fridge fermentation chamber though. I used an aquarium heater in a bucket of water before so the upgrade was pretty remarkable. Do you need it? No! But do I like it? Yes!

I think the main difference between the grainfather and my fridge/fermenting chamber is that the grainfather is probably a bit more gentle in its heating and cooling but my fridge still holds temp with around a 0.5C swing either side of the set temp.

I use a plastic barrel with water and freeze blocks. I thought about the fridge I have one in the shed, but I thought I would try this first.
It works fine. I just pop a couple of freeze blocks in before I go to work. Then watch it on the phone, which I think is ultra cool 😎
