Hi,

I live in Vienna and am half Austrian, half English. I started brewing mainly because I miss the Real Ales of England, mainly bitters. I began with extract kites and now, after about two years of all grain brewing, I can finally manage to produce something resembling the real thing on my cobbled together equipment, although there is still a lot of room for improvement! The lockdown situation has only spurred me on.

I'm lucky that I live near the main hombrew supplier here, that stocks some English ingredients. However, the range of hops is limited to the EKG, Fuggles and First Gold. Likewise the yeast selection is not great with the main dry ones plus London Ale III. Been enough for me so far but might have to start looking further afield for more experimentation.

Very much a warm welcome here too, and interesting to read about your perspective of home brew in Austria and Europe, particularly since I'd have thought hops would be much more widely available... and no Saaz, Tettnang, or Hallertauer?

Oh yes, European hops are of course easy to get hold of, as are many American ones. I meant specifically for my craving of English styles. 😁

Welcome aboard.

I'm sure I've seen it around but it's not something I seek out tbh. 😁 You can get it everywhere in bottles though. Actually come to think of it I remember quite liking the alcohol free version.
