Why didn't the driver just take the £4.80p of a £5 fare, (which seems a lot) and let the girl ride to the stop or two before. Then her mum could have picked her up there.

i 2nd all you said here , the driver could of let her on and not printed a ticket that way no one would of had to pay 20p , i wonder if he would of let his daughter/sister/mom walk ? Its terribly sad what has happened and the real blame lies with the offender not the bus driver , However I can't quite understand why the girl didn't stay in the city centre it doesn't take that long to drive into town in the middle of the night. I have lived in Nottingham for 3 years and even I am still on edge if I'm walking home late evening and I live in Hyson green.

No, while it is a shame the bus driver/company didn't have a solution ie deferred payment, particularly for young female travelling alone, it is the offender to blame and to quote DJ ....

sorry your wrong, he dont deserve death, its an easy option,

if some girl had asked for 20 p of me and i ant got it i would have given her my ticket instead and got off the buss, at that time of night , common sence should have kicked in, personally i lock the driver up with the rapest myself so he knows what its like.

as for the rapest, please say where and when i will happily collect him form any prison and deal with him, death no, loads of pain , ho yes , fecking loads and loads

What a tricky one!

If it gets around that a bus company will take part fare late at night then people will take the piss and try to save on their bus fare, if you go out regularly then you probably know how much you need for the bus and should keep the money back.

The driver isn't at fault, the offender is and will (hopefully) get a taste if his own medicine inside, frequently. Castration would at least prevent him passing on his genes (if he hasn't already) which has to be a good thing.
