Went out shopping with Mrs Clint the other day and it's all happy gifting this, gifting season the other...and it's on the ads...what's this...the return of Oliver bloody Cromwell and his ban on Christmas?
More pc ***** I won't be participating in!!

Go away, have a home few and relax

best thing we ever did for Xmas was to stop buying presents for each other (instigated by dad)

That's a shame. I'm not at all religious, in fact I'm the exact opposite, but it's incredibly naff PC logic. I know what their intentions are; they think by removing the reference to the Christian festival, they are being 'inclusive' of other faith's, when in fact they are just being grossly offensive to one of the world's major religions, and ignoring the fact that nobody was really offended by Happy Christmas in the first place. All they end up doing is pissing people off, and ironically, spreading division.

Can't people just be allowed to get on with things? People are generally good, friendly, decent human beings; let them find their own way.

Rant over. Sorry folks.

Bloody money racket nowadays. My second oldest was gobsmacked yesterday when one of her school friends asked what she was getting and she replied a pair of DM's and what else said her friend so she replied that's all cause they're £110 and so expensive, why what have you asked for and the reply was My mum ""who doesn't work by the way" spends £1000 each on three of them every year so does my other friends parents, I just thought all parents do that.
She then told her friend she has a part time job and buys what she needs and thought she should get one too...

We bought our son an decent pair of Skullcandy crusher wireless headphones as he is in to music in a big way he knows he won't be getting much more.

We have always had a budget for Christmas which is around £200 and if they want something slightly more expensive then it goes off their birthday present which will be either March or April and they appreciate it.

I'm pretty much the same way. I'm not religious but it's called Christmas. It just is. It's a tradition. We had a stint of "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" from every worker in every public place we went. I objected and would say "Merry Christmas" anyway.
I get "Have a blessed day" all the time. I don't say I'm offended; I just say thank you. They're being kind, it makes them feel good, I suppose, and I don't mind being included in other's religious practices. I'm definitely not offended. There's a decent Jewish population here and a sizeable African American population and others. I just roll with it.

Good running shoes cost 109 pounds and they only last 4-5 months. I tried cheap (half the price) and I swear my knees started hurting after 40 yards.

I know what you mean, what on earth has happened to Mizuno prices over the last few years? You used to be able to get a pair of wave inspires for £60/70 here, but they are knocking on the door of £100 these days. Although, I tend to get at least a year out of mine.

Mizuno, eh? Nice. The Asics have made a steady incline in price as well. I was getting them for $90 sometimes less. It looks like both brands have had similar increases. It might be as simple as runners will pay almost any price for proper shoes.
Asics Nimbus have a really good shoe for larger runners. When I pile up the miles, it wears them out.
