Hi do you think one of these would work as a read out
Yes, I should think one of those would work very well with the wortometer - just so long as it has a 6mm diameter probe. It looks like it does, but I really can’t be certain from the photo

EDIT: I looked that one up and it gets poor reviews for being very inaccurate. Avoid.

What do you use for temp readout
You have to connect the digital (DS18B20) temperature sensors to something that can communicate with them - in my setup I use a custom microcontroller similar to an Arduino; however for a ready made alternative you should be fine with something like the module below. I’m sure there are many similar ones available.

EDIT: this looks like a decent DS18B20 display, so long as you don’t mind waiting for delivery:

I fancied getting a wortometer when they came out, I then realised that if I stuck the GF probe in the pocket I had made on the side of the FV for the inkbird probe out of gaffer tape and insulation, I could monitor the temperature of the wort in the fermenter.

I find it particularly useful for monitoring the output temperature of my counterflow when I'm doing HERMS and chilling after the boil athumb..
 
Before I had the second probe on my Smartpid I used a wireless barbecue probe in the wortometer, accurate within half a degree when I checked it. Probe is narrower than the DSB1820 but blu tack did the trick.

I use a dsb1820 wired onto my smartpid and that fits nicely into the wortometer hole. I use this second temp probe in the wortometer on the recirc pipe to check the temp of wort as it goes onto the top of the grain ( seems to be 0.3 C less than the bottom of kettle temp probe) and then after the mash I use it beyond the counterflow chiller to gauge the chilled wort temperature.
An NTC 10k sensor such as on the stc 1000 also will fit in the wortometer, it's smaller than the DSB so I just added a bit of blu tack to hold it in position.
I have DSB but with three wires was hoping to us with a spare STC 1000 would it work and which wires to use as sac 1000 sensor only as two wire connections?
 
I've just found that the wortometer fits in perfectly to the hole in the middle of the counterflow chiller, and the nubbin for the temp probe stops it sliding in. This is perfect for the wort recirculation to sanitise the CFC and redirect the wort back into the boiler.

I'm assuming it's by design, but if not, it's an amazing coincidence!
