Hey all, had my first ever Wherry in the secondary for 2 days after 9 days in the primary, it went from 1.043 to 1.012 before going into the secondary.
Anyway, the point is, Im getting very impatient as it looks and smells so damn good!!

How long should I leave it in the secondary before bottling in your opinion?

Would now be too early if I was to then leave it in the bottles for a week or so?

What say you?

Oh and I just realised I now have an empty FV (23ltr) and I also have 8 empty Demi Johns, Im thinking Cider! Any suggestions on Cider methods? I like a medium sweet flat scrumpy myself!

Cheers all

Chris

use the search button top right lots of turbo cider variations.

Normally a beer needs 10 - 14 days from starting to bottling ( use a hydrometer to check ) its immaterial if thats in one vessel or two.
The beer needs 3 or 4 weeks in the bottle before it can be considered ready to drink but you would be a hard man if you didn't imbibe in a taste before then

Cheers Piddle!

The SG was 1.043, 9 days later I checked it over 3 days and it stayed at 1.012, it was at this point I transferred to the secondary. I am dry hopping it with around 30 grams of east kent goldings as I love hoppy aroma style ales. The hops have been in for 4 days, on reflection Im guessing that I need to leave it in the secondary for a bit longer for the Hops to do their thing?

  guess I'm gonna have to keep my hands off and let it do its thing for a bit longer :nono:

yes a few more days longer for dry hopping according to your tastes.
You can guess the cure for impatience when waiting for a brew to condition........

Start another off......

Well, I reckon your right there!

I have a 23ltr FV and 8 DJ's going free at the moment

I have decided tonight that Cider is going in the DJ's, not sure on the FV yet??

Was going to try an extract kit, I would love to find one that was like Shephard Neame Spitfire as I love that stuff!! :drink:

I have seen an all grain spitfire clone but Im not ready for AG yet :)
