Hi all, posted last week about adding gelatine that just clumped into 1 big lump when added to fv (did dissolve it first) one reply said it would probably dissolve,1 week later came to bottling still a lot of lumps floating on top.2 questions:
1 any ideas as to what i did wrong.
2 after syphoning to bottle bucket lots of small lumps of jelly in beer, syphoned again with sterilised muslin on end of syphon tube, will there still be enough yeast in suspension to condition ok.
tasted for QC ;) and tasted superb.

You added hot gelatine solution directly to cold beer . . . it immediately 'set'.

Dissolve the gelatine in 250ml of hot water . . . then allow it to cool . . . before it sets, take 500 ml of the beer and gradually mix it into the gelatine solution . . . .Possibly do this again, then gradually add the gelatine and beer mixture to the main batch of beer . . . stirring gently to mix it evenly into the bulk, without disturbing the yeast that has settled at the bottom of the FV.
