As i'm all excited about my new SS 80L kettle i thought i'd better find out about firing the thing. What type of burners do you guys use? I'd imagine i'm going to need something like a 3kw burner or more? How long does the gas last with one of these cranking?

Anything else i should know that may come in useful?

MEB, Try 8Kw at least. I fire my 50L coppers with 13KW (19 if I run them at 2 bar) . . .My burner consumes 4Kg of propane per hour . . . . I must find a way to make them more efficient

8KW. Ok. I'll try hunting down a 10. I won't be boiling more than about 65L. Beerbelly do some pretty cool looking burners-but at a price. We have a place in town called Gas n more that specialise in that sort of stuff so i'll pop in tomorrow when i go to pick up the mower.

I'm guessing that i want a burner with adjustment that is not too close to the burner itself or it'll get v hot v quick. :hmm:

Two weeks is going to feel like an eternity...
