Have to do a quick brew on sunday as im selling my placky brewery including my current mashtun

So that I can ensure 3 full cornies Gail Porter is on the cards due to lack of crystal or caramalt...... I also really need to get some black malt in stock so a call to BB is in order some time over the next few weeks to get the stocks up.

Amount Item Type % or IBU
5.20 kg Pale Malt, Maris Otter (5.9 EBC) Grain 91.23 %
0.50 kg Chocolate Malt (886.5 EBC) Grain 8.77 %
34.00 gm Northdown [7.50 %] (90 min) Hops 25.8 IBU
10.00 gm Goldings, East Kent [4.30 %] (15 min) Hops 2.0 IBU
10.00 gm Goldings, East Kent [4.30 %] (0 min) (Aroma Hop-Steep) Hops -
1.00 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
1 Pkgs SafAle English Ale (DCL Yeast #S-04) Yeast-Ale

I hit the mash temp spot on 66c going for a weak ish mash of 3 - 1 ratio and a longer mash time of 2 hours as I have to nipp out for a few things from the shop. Sparge water is measured out 35litres and it is currently at 90c will be letting this cool down before the sparge. So far no problems at all I must be getting used to this new brewery, The end result should let me know how used to it I'm getting.

Pics will talk from now on :D

Had a good day I measured out the water using one of my FVs so I knew how much was in the boiler for sparging. Had a fellow brewer call found from Manchester to pick up my old placky brewery and the mashtun hence the brew today after yesterdys brew day gave some info and a taster of my only drinkable brew at the moment also sent him off with a bottle of the brew I kegged yesterday, SWMBO was alright with the impromptu brew day bit it's going to cost me something though not sure what yet.

Edit 1 For spelling mistake ( their will be more bad spelling :wha: )
Edit 2 For brew day process.
Edit 3 For pics addition.

Whats your brewlength DF :?: . Looks a nice simple uncluttered recipe :thumb:

I like to do 25 litres so I can fill a cornie and a few bottles to keep / give away.

Got up this morning to find its trying to make a break for freedom first thaught was damn how much have I lost but it was OK only a little bit on the FV lid and some foam comming out of the airlock made some scence to only have bunged 21 litres into the FV rather than filling it right up to the 25 litre line, I put the last 8 pints or so into a demijohn which seems to have behaved itself.

Did not have much time to clean it up this morning so I left it to settle down which it has done so I've cleaned the top of the lid and the bubbler only about a table spoon of beer lost makes me happy other wise i would have been in the proverbial dog muck if it had of spilled all over the floor.

Just taken a small sample to check the gravity and have a sneaky taste...

Gravity is going down well its currently at 1015 after 3 days.

As for taste very nice but it has no body to it, Could this be down to my mash which was 2 hours with a 3 to 1 ratio at 66c ?
