Hello all
While in town popped into Wilko for a perusal, and full intention of buying "stuff"...fv,Coopers apa, crown caps..plans scuppered as they were out of the standard £10,only had the taller narrow neck ones with black screw top lid for £18. Dithering I couldn't decide, the wench was grumbling about school stuff for the kids to be bought so left empty handed..
Anyone use these fv's for beer, are they easy to syphon and clean? One might be a viable option as when the temps drop a bit I can get a brew on in my little shed..plus the lid and handles make shifting it easier.

Cheers

I saw those in Wilko and almost bought one, but didn't, only cos I really don't need it. However I don't see a problem, except cleaning under the shoulder is more problematical. Than can be solved by chucking some Oxi clean in after a thorough wash out, and leaving it over night, and then rinsing out again. A hose outside would do the trick. Hope that helps.

I just finished one in this barel.

Although the opening is wide enough to reach in, I can't get the whole way down to the bottom. However I used the garden hose to clean it. Then used PWB and it shines as new.

Syphoning was easy. So I will go for another one. The handles a brilliant and it is sturdier than the cheap buckets

...back to town methinks. ...tomorrow! As shortly I shall be thrashing up a chicken tikka madras (or maybe a bit hotter!) AND..sampling my Coopers stout a Wherry and some bottles from the supermarket. .lavatory paper in the fridge!

Cheers
