Just bottled my first brew on friday, been out to the shed this evening and noticed the empty FV still smells of the previous brew despite a 24 hour soak in OxiClean to get rid of the Krausen residue and a scrub out & rinse. Is this normal? What can I do about this?

It's a downside of fermenting in plastic (not that it harms anything, you might have some flavour migration, but not enough that you would detect I would imagine).

You might also notice, if you're fermenting a stout or the like, that the plastic will absorb some of the colour too.

If you ferment in glass or stainless this doesn't happen. :thumb:

Cheers,
