Hi Guy's

Had to move my FV into a smaller spare box room (from the kitchen) ive just used for playing music from my hifi(seperates)/guitars/recording. I mostly only use it weekends but was wondering if this environment was an unhappy one for the yeast and beer in general.
Ive seen bits and pieces online but not enough to convince me it would be a detrimental to the beer. Some articles even suggesting vibrations can help.

Does anyone else Have they're FV in a fairly noisy environment (music preferably) and not noticed any problems with the finnished product?

Cheers:whistle:

I hear it can add aSTRINGent flavours but you can find ways to "beat" it.. "Pop" a HB and do not worry.... Maybe you should "rap" up the FV to help stabilise it and secure it on a firm "Bass". All helps fine "tune"

I know a few people will "snare" at me for this post.. and will get very "vocal" towards me. maybe this will be my "vinyl" post on the subject..

ill get me coat

Are single celled micro-organisms capable of having any type of auditory/vibration sensing ? Very much doubt it and so it's more a question of the effect of the energy affecting the liquid (in a similar vein to how temperature does I guess)

So perhaps excessive vibrations can cause the yeast to be more in suspension than they would be in an area with less "energy" surrounding them. It may help if you've selected a notoriously slow brew/yeast in the same way that a gentle agitation of the FV would wake some up.

In all seriousness the only thing I can think off is it may affect floculation.. as long as it is pretty air tight, you should be introducing oxygen in and the blanket of Co2 should help keep it protected

Maybe it will aid attenuation on high flocculant strains who knows

You win today's internets.

Isn't that how Brewdog make their beers? Half a gram of hops at the start, 5tons at flameout then punk music at a billion decibels for two weeks.

My taste in music is absolutely ghastly, and as I brew when the missus is out, the music is always pelting out. Been ok so far!

Baseline brewing did this deliberately, saw their brewery for sale on ebay not so long ago, so at least commercially it didn't work!

As a 'Mothers' and Frank Zappa nut...I would say that brewing is the "Mother of Invention"
