Sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere, it's just the forum search ignores the word cider; which is a problem when you search for "Fruit Cider Recipe"

I was wondering if anyone had made anything a bit like the jacques fruit cider and if so what fruits did you use? and in what quantities please ? :) (It would be great if it was a turbo cider type thing for a noob like me but if it’s not I don’t mind a spot of mashing ;) )

Many thanks in advance :)

I make a TC type fruit cider by replacing one carton of apple juice with a carton of other juice, currently brewing a blueberry TC, have previously made cherry, cranberry (a little too dry for me), grape, mango (needs pectolase) and orange (don't recommend that one).

Ahh cheers :D where do you find all of them different juice cartons? for example the cherry juice? I only ever see the generic red/white grape juice etc?

They're all from either Sainsburys or Tesco.

I've also made a cherry cider from frozen black cherrys from a farm shop, just grabbed a scoop full from their freezer and added it to a dj with apple juice and pectolase. That was an exceptionally good cider..

Last summer I made a blueberry cider from 100g of fresh blueberrys. Mashed the blueberrys, put them in a brew bucket with the apple juice and a teaspoon of pectolase for 5 days then syphoned out the juice into a dj. This was another major success, making it again this summer when the price of blueberrys comes down.

Ahhh nice one that does sound pretty cool :) I'm getting into that :) ;)

LewisA; I found some black Cherry Concentrate in Holland and Barrett yesterday; it costs £11.95 for 500 mL, but at the moment they've got a 'penny sale' on, so you can get 2 for £11.96

LewisA, Just started a fruit TC today, used 4 x 1ltr apple juices and 1 x 1ltr boyson berry fruit juice, the latter has blackberry and raspberry. My wife is a fan of fruit cider and Jacques is one of them, I asked her the fruits in Jacques and the boyson berry fruit juice is pretty close, also Kopperberg has similar berries too.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes as I need to experiment with sweetener before it is bottled.

Hey guys thanks for your replies :)

Sorry I have taken so long to reply we just had major problems with our internet and then life became very busy. Sorry for my rudeness. :P

As mentioned in another thread, I did a half-and-half TC, using equal parts apple to Tesco exotic fruit juice. The result was pineapple-flavoured cider. FYI, it was a very vigorous ferment, so plenty of headspace required at the early stage.

That’s an interesting combination and interesting result, I’m definitely going to try that one :D

Thanks disco_monkey79

My pleasure.

How are you getting on with those half spirits? Which one/s have you tried? Apologies if this is already discussed in another thread.

IMHO it was a bit of a disappointment really, It is fairly tricky to do because you have to dissolve a lot of sugar into 5 litres of water which is not good if you planning to use a PET or demijohn because it just won’t fit, plus you need a lot of head space (which I found to my misfortune :( ) Some of the essences would have been good (particularly sambuca) if the alcohol percentage was higher but instead you were left with a watery tasting shot. However the Irish whiskey one was terrible  Personally I think the money would have been better spent building a small scale still (Not that i condone illegally doing it :D ) and trying it again or even better actually attempt to clone them.

I don't know maybe I just did it wrong
