Fruit Beer from Non-Fruit Beer Kit

I like the fruit beers, particularly Kriek and Framboise.

I have several kilos of frozen raspberries that i picked this year offmy own canes.

I was wondering wether it would be feasible to do a beer kit and then add raspberries after initial ferment to make a fruit beer?

Has anyone tried this? not sure of quantities or timing etc and dont want to waste a beer kit and the raspberries.

Which kind of kit would suit this? an IPA maybe?

Any thoughts welcome.

I have used cheap lager kit for this purpose, added tinned raspberry or pineapple chunk using a straining bag. Turned out quite nice, the raspberry lager with a hint of pink. The pineapple I did in 2006 and only recenly discovered six bottles of the stuff. Very good it was too with a hint of pineapple taste.
