On the way to work one morning last week I saw a tiding of magpies, now when I see just one or two I always say the old rhyme of..1 for sorrow...2 for joy and so on, no way was I going all the way to 10. This got me thinking why the bloody hell do I do it, the answer.... "Superstition."

The Dictionary states..
An irrational belief that an object, action, or circumstance not logically related to a course of events influences its outcome.

So how many more do I have?....a pinch of salt over my shoulder, don't cross knives, Friday the 13th, and on and on. So what about you guys? what superstitions do you have?.

Anyway I'm not really superstitious.... touch wood..... :wha:

There must be a hundred versions of the Magpie jingle, that's one of the nicer ones. Folklore is not kind to the Magpie and most of the rhymes link it with the devil, death and bad spirits. a bit like the tv series that use to be on the telly...." maaaag... pie "the magpie is a social bird and forms a life long partnership with its mate.... therefore one for sorrow two for joy three for a girl and four for a boy... etc.

Loads of Magpies in my garden.....

Ahhhh, that must be why I have two girls and two boys :wha: :wha: :wha:

:hmm:

Not many magpies in my field, i've shot them all
