If youve been following youll know i brewed woodfordes nog kit to 20L last wed and it died on me and got stuck at 1.020 after a few days.
So after seeking some advice i decided to give it a gentle stir to wake the yeast. Nothing happened, still dead. So i left it a couple more days and was still getting 1.020 so i decided to try adding more yeast. So i bought some Muntons gold yeast which i activated in some warm water as instructed, added a little of the beer to the yeast, gave it a stir and added it to the fv. This was at 1pm yesterday and 24hrs later theres still no reaction! No sign of life and still 1.020, (Its been at a constant 20 degrees by the way so temp shouldnt be affecting it) and now its got little brown bits floating around in it.
So ive taken the last resort. I have now got the fv outside at the bottom of the garden on top of a table with a long iron rod sticking out of it and im praying for a thunderstorm  because one way or another im going to reanimate this f***er!!!!
Ah well, the term epic fail comes to mind but ill give it few days to settle then filter it through a sterile gauze pad into bottles and see how it turns out because i dont really have anything to loose and you never now, it might turn out to be the best beer ive brewed yet. ;) Although probably not.
Anyway heres lookin forward to the next one, brewferm abbey. :thumb:

keep us updated!

however the chance of lightning this weekend doesn't look good!

I wish u luck, I had the same with a wherry stopped at 1020 stirred it and left it two days, added a muntons gold but mine kickstarted back to life. When it had finished it tasted really yeasty and took about 3 months to come drinkable.

Good luck with the lightening bolt

Rob

I had a Munton's Santa's Winter Warmer that did well right down to 1.019, then it slowed right down. It took 3 weeks to get it to 1.014, which at that point I just gave up and bottled it. Tasted it after 2 weeks, really not good.

All I have to say about my experience is that it is the last time I brew with cans again. Ok, I am going into extract brewing with hops and specialty grains, so there may be a can in there, but I will be more in control. Hope to do a little partial mash too. I did an extract brew on my Dusseldorf Alt and it tasted magic. The Winter Warmer is just stail and bland in comparison. No more Woodfords for me!
