has anyone noticed that to force carbonate beer to 2 volumes, the PSI is directly related to the temperature it's at?

for example if you want to carb your beer to 2 volumes (which i find a generally ideal pressure for my short lines and Enodis taps) if the beer's at 18'c then you need 18 PSI... if it's at 16'c then you need 16 PSI

weird coincidence or what?! :wha:

I carb mine at 15psi at 12 degrees and that's about right for me.

Haha.

FWIW I do mine at about 12-15psi at room temperature (we have cool rooms - I'm not paying for champagne for British Gas). Turns out like a nice real ale. Bit cooler would be nice but I haven't built a kegerator yet. Or even found a place to put one.

Just keep your eye out for a flash chiller jamesb. I was lucky enough to get one off someone on here but there's usually a few on Ebay. I have to say that it's totally transformed my beer. Room temperature beer (18c) wasn't great and emptying the fridge for a keg wasn't brilliant either but it did at least taste much better, I just haven't got room for another fridge for the beer. The flash chiller on the other hand takes up minimal space and I have no need to worry about the temperature of the keg. Having bought more cornies I'll be keeping my eye out for a flash chiller with more than one beer line but I'm in no rush to serve more than one beer yet. :)

I keep mine at a steady 10C and 10Psi. and for me that is bang on. Its starts chilled but its not overwarm by the end of the glass.
I have a cornie of Cider going into the monsterator to gass up at the weekend. I intend to use that to test / christen my flash chiller.

I've been keeping an eye on fleabay and also having words with friendly landlord (especially one who's pissed off at the PubCo and about to leave...). I'm also after a beer engine.

Ah well. Christmas is coming.
