Today is a sad day
My trusty 60GB original Ps3 passed away with the yellow light of death tonight. I feel lost and hurt all those gaming hours and experiance points lost to PCU and GPU gods in the sky. To make it worse, this happens 5 days before the release of Call Of Duty Black Ops, THE biggest game to come out this year!!! Fingers crossed reflowing the solder works tomorrow if Not I need a new one ASAP!

Am I the only old ghytte round here thats wondering .........

what the feck are you on about :hmm:

You are not alone.

I've never 'got' the gaming thing, though loads of people my age (36) love it.

I used to be out playing football at every opportunity from being 6 years old right up until I met the Mrs so it kind of passed me by.

I don't mind a little go on the Wii now and again......we've some good party games that are funny, especially with a few of you playing and the drinks flowing :)

I have a ps2 as well, but hardly used it to be honest.

My mate has fitted mod chips to them both as well

Poor old muddy, I bet the bottom lip was quivering for a bit after that happened.

On the bright side the new updated model is so much smaller and sexier with a great big HD, It won't tackle PS2 games though, My son would be lost without rugby challenge 2006.

I never get the time to use mine, my kids are always using it.

you have my sympathies MD, my son was rather upset when the same thing happened to his..... but hes 15
Im with Wez on this one. Im also 36 and Ive never seen the point in using your thumbs to kick a ball.
Besides, Xbox kicks PS3 ass.

You can try the Sale of Goods Act to get it replaced for nothing. PM'd you details, but I got mine replaced for free and it was 3 years old when the same thing happened :thumb:

I dont think it is worth the effort reflowing i tried that myself when my ps3 got the ylod but it only lasted for another week . I was lucky enough to have another ps3 at hand and now keep the other one for parts . You dont have much time left to get it sorted tuesday is fast approaching  .
Good luck

Well it's up and runnning again, I'm replacing my cooling fans with some new ones as the old ones don't seem to be at full speed also going to rig up some peltier plates to act as air con for a while

I heard about the death by heat problem before I bough mine so I bout a peripheral 4 fan usb cooling system that clips on the front, luckily I have yet to see any problems and my son thrapes the sh*t out of mine I cannot get him off it.

I have a 48K Spectrum that hasn't seen the light of day for over 25 years. Monty Mole now that was a game :D

I have a Sega Master System that is in the bottom of the wardrobe. Sonic The Hedgehog. :thumb:

I have a PS2 not been used for over 3 years. Only used that for practice when I was racing. TOCA2.

I have a Wii. Now that does get used. Mostly for BBC i player but also when friends are round after a few pints. The flappy chicken game is realy funny

I had the same four fans Shane, on it since new but the fans are packing in but didn't notice it. Now I'm going for the 3 on the side type fans.

Sounds like these things are a worthwhile investment. Not.

With known green rings of death etc.........

I'm thankful I found a football before I found a controller to pretend I can play football :thumb:
