Hi, first time brewing wine. I've just started brewing a 30 bottle, California Connoisseur, Pinot Grigio kit.
Two, possibly stupid questions.......

1. Do I need to go out and buy a wine filter?

2. I have a spare beer keg, and was wondering, rather that bottling could I put the wine in that once it's ready to drink?

Cheers
Paul

I wouldn't worry too much about a wine filter, it's only really for polishing your wine in order to make it really shine. If will clear perfectly fine on its own.

As for the keg, I can't see any reason why not. Just make sure the wine is 100% clear and then rack it into the barrel, being as careful as you can not to transfer any sediment.

You don't need a filter, that should only ever be regarded as an optional extra stage.

If you are throwing a party or planning on drinking the lot within a few days, then go ahead and use the keg.

If your keg has a carbon dioxide injector system and you can purge the airspace and keep any oxygen out as you dispense the wine, then it might keep for a few weeks.

i wouldnt keg the wine tbh screwtops are cheaper (esp if u get them free) and they will last a lot longer
