Hi All,

After two years of brewing kits I finally have one that appears to be stuck.

Looking for a little advice to ensure I'm taking the right steps.

Brew is a Nelson's Revenge and was started on the 25th Oct OG 1.046. it has been bubbling away at a temp of 23 deg C and I noticed on Friday it was down to (yep you guessed it) 1.020 and the same again on Saturday (Yesterday). For me kits are normally pretty much fermented out at this point so I'm concerned the Brew has now become stuck. Last night with a sterilised spoon (and arm) I have it a long gentle stir, I was quite surprised that it fizzed like pop whilst I stirred it.

This morning the brew is still at 1.020 at 23 deg C and looks like a brew that may have finished.

Is this formally stuck ???

Should I try more yeast in a day or two if nothing has happened, or maybe another stir ???

Thanks for your help.

if you have stirred etc and nothing happened it looks like it finished. You may just have to accept it. Would leave it a few more days then test with hydrometer if it the same just bottle or keg etc i dont think adding yeast at that stage would help but you could try

Thanks Mark.

I would add the yeast and leave to see what happened before bottling/kegging etc.

I would leave it for a few days then check on it, it should come down a bit more given time. Also leaving it for a bit will help it to clear again. I've had a wherry that stuck at 1.020 gave it a stir as you have eventually it came down to 1.016 but wouldn't go any lower

Cheers Eggman.

Looked at it again today and it seems to have dropped to 1.018.

So given it another long gentle stir hoping to get it to continue to drop. Nice yeasty smell coming from it.
