Have had some damsons steeping for four days to extract the juice but they have started fermenting from the wild yeasts. The whole lot looks disgusting and doesn't smell great and i am not sure if it is worth continuing with it. One recipe for plum wine talks about bringing the juice up to the boil so am trying that to sterilise/kill wild yeasts but will this affect the flavour?

yeah, that was the other option but went for the boil method in case there is any bacteria that the campden tablets won't kill (i don't know if there is any but i am trying to cover all scenarios).

Campden do not kill, it just stuns the yeast to allow the commercial yeast to take hold and establish before the wild yeast can, I would think boiling was the right idea and they should be alright to use.
