Hello all
Just to introduce myself, I have been serving, selling, marketing and drinking beer for many and now I have finally got round to making my first ever brew.
I live on the edge of woodlands so the natural choice was nettle beer to start and I shall strive to use the goodies from the countryside. Starting with nettle beer I aim to try dandelion beer, elderflower fizz and anything else that anybody may suggest or recommend.
I will keep you posted with my virgin vat and fingers crossed photos and tasting notes to follow.

regards

There's an element of truth in most old wives' tales.

Dandelions have a variety of pharmocological uses, and the white liquid which oozes out of the broken stems does contain a diuretic, so if you get that on your fingers while picking them and then end up licking your fingers, you could get caught short or wake up in a puddle.

As it's only the heads or petals that are used in winemaking or brewing, that problem is unlikely to arise.
