Hi there, i am planning on doing the Coopers European Lager or Mexican Cerveca kit to break my brewing virginity.

I will only be doing it after xmas so have plenty of time to research etc and am proposing the following.

All feedback, good or bad, please chip in

European Ale Kit or Mexican Cerveca Kit
Brewed short to 21 litres instead of 23.
40g Saaz Hop Tea boiled for 10 mins in a gallon of boiling water.
700g brewing sugar
500g DME
One Coopers carbonation drop for each 330ml glass bottle.

Sounds good. :thumb: However using 330ml bottles means you will need over 60 of them. Might not seem like a problem but they all need washed and sterilized. Having just bottled 44 *500ml of Coopers European Lager I can tell you that it takes a bit of time washing them all.

I am also new to this game and have bottled all three of the brews I have made so far, however I am going to invest in a barrel of some kind for my next effort to cut down on the cleaning/sterilizing.

Also according to the instructions in the kit Coopers European lager needs 12 weeks in the bottle before drinking. I am not sure about the Cerveza.

Be aware that the european lager has to be brewed at around 12-14 degrees C as it uses a proper lager yeast.

I would go for either the Mexican Cervesa or the Australian Pale Ale - the latter served chilled is remarkably like a lager anyway, and both ferment between 18 and 22 degrees.

I've done both with a kilo of the Coopers Beerkit enhancer, and both came out lovely.
