First brew

Hi all

I am doing my first brew, and am doing the cider that came with the kit. Nothing seemed to be happening for a few days, but I checked today and there were a couple of clumps of... something... on top. Any idea what this is?

Nope, but stop fiddling and wait 3 days from when you pitched the yeast before reporting any problems :)

Looks like lumps of sugar or DME to me. Did you mix it in properly?

I dont know about cider kits but if my beer looked like that after 3 days I'd be worried.........

Maybe try adding more yeast?

It's a cider kit, I think, as he is a firend of mine who wanted to get into home brew too. But go to the dark side of ciders lol. He messaged me earlier about this and I prompted him to get his arse over here and post lol. When I spoke to him last about it he said he has thoroughly cleaned everything, though he didn't mention if he dried pitched the yeast or reconstitute the yeast. :wha:
