To kick off the new year (and help me recover from the shock of finding my first attempt at beer didn't go well) I went and made up a batch of a tipple my housemates loved last time around. Only this time it isn't mostly water and baking yeast!

3L of sainsburys cranberry juice drink (£2.50 for the lot!)
2tspn wine yeast and nutrient
2tspn glycerine
"some" sugar (less than 100g, I wasn't too fussed about the amount of sugar I was adding as the juice is already pretty sweet)
Topped up to ~4L with water.

No hydrometer reading I'm afraid.
Pictures to follow when my phone has charged up a bit.

Happy new year.

Sorry, have you had a look at the WOW recipes on here? Very useful and could be just what you need, I used the following when making this:

1ltr cranberry
1ltr red grape juice
800 g sugar
1 tsp yeast
1 tsp nutrient
1 tsp pectolase
1 tsp glycerine
Tannin (cold cuppa tea)
water to 4 ltr, topped up when fermentation calms down. Makes a nice blush :thumb:

No higher than 1.050 and probably 7.5% abv if you're lucky.

Doesn't class as wine, if you bottle and prime it might count as an alcopop.

Exactly the same recipe I used for my cranberry WOW. It's currently tormenting away nicely. Can't wait to try it since everyone who has made it has had good results!

Ah right, thanks for that. 7.5% will do just nicely as I'm not especially bothered about the abv, so long as it's drinkable!

I had a little look the other night and I intend to follow it more accurately in the future.
My experience with using tea for tannin hasn't been great so far though, so I'm somewhat hesitant to use it. Having said that, the two brews I did put tea in are starting to become less harsh after three or four months now. One is fine with a bit of water and the other is approaching drinkable, though that has pomegranate juice in it, which I subsequently discovered I really don't like!
