Hi there,

I am just about ready for my first brew day, this weekend if all goes well (I have a leak on the spigot of the bucket boiler to seal).

Due to restrictions, i.e. me wanting to buy all ingredients from one place to save on postage (this was a one off as there were some equipment bits and bobs I needed) my choice of hops over here was somewhat limited.

So what I have is 4kg of pale malt, 1kg of Munich malt, 100g of citra pellets, 100g of cascade, and some fermentis safale s-04 and some irish moss.

My idea was:

4kg pale malt
500g munich

30g Cascade 6.7% for 60 mins
30g Cascade 6.7% for 15 mins
30g Citra 13.2% for 15 mins (or less?)

Does this sound alright? I am worried the Cascade will not work so well as a bittering hop but its all I have.
Should I hold back the citra till the end of the boil?

I did consider swapping them, so bittering with citra and then the two 15 mins before but read its not great to use citra as bittering.

Basically this is a first batch so as long as it is not so bad I need to pour the whole lot down the drain I'll be satisfied.

Any thoughts will be gratefully received!

Cheers

Allan
