So I finally did my first AG on wed- can't believe I haven't done it sooner!

2 days in the fv and it's already tasting better than any of the 15 or so kits I had done- that green taste isnt there at all- I'm just gonna attribute it to the kits!

anyways, just mainly wanted to post to thanks everyone for their advice and help

yep all grain , easy to do as long as you have large pots/boiler mash tun and around 7 hrs to do but worth every second (most of which you spend doing other things as its a waiting game) you can make better beers than you might buy in the pub

thx guys!

Im worried about a stuck(ish?) fermentation, which may be ironic as i've used dried yeast every other time witout this problem.

The og was 1.045 on 11/4

today it's only 1.022. i had hoped it would come down a good bit more. it dropped to 1.035 the first two days. its now at 19 o C which I know is a little low- I used wlp500 i think

so should I turn the heat on in the room (its wrapped in a foiled floor insulator thing and a duvet), or maybe give it a stir (never had to do that before) or just leave it for a while (it's just that this og wasn't particular high imo and i had thought it wouldn't take long to ferment out)

i aired it well before pitching. pitched at 23 o C

thanks

Matthew

give it a stir then leave it be , don't increase temp 19c is not low thats ideal bad off flavours can come from too high a temp (although some do require around 22c but most do not and no harm dune with low temps just takes longer while high temps can ruin it sometimes ) you should get a poss fg of around 1012/1016 finish
