Hi there i currently have a IPA fermenting away but when that is finished can i use finings and then still be able to prime with sugar??

Also in the recipe i followed it did not say how much sugar to use to prime, there is 23 litres alltogether and i have just ordered a new bottling bucket so will be adding the sugar and water there, any suggestions how much i should use? :thumb:

Hi jmh

it depends on which finings you intend to use. You need yeast in suspension so that the bottle conditioning can occur - you don't need a lot but you do need some. So given this you probably want to avoid something that drops the yeast. You are better leaving this yeast in the primary for a couple extra days, let the yeast thin out and then bottle while you have enough viable cells to condition your beer.
