When I barrel my 2nd brew, should I use finings?
Does finings affect the taste at all?
Will it clear by itself if left long enough?

Its really up to yourself. Finings can take the guess work out of whether your beer will clear or not and will also produce clear beer quicker than if you don't. Most yeasts will eventually settle out but there are occassion where the little blighters just stay hanging around.

As they are effectively just precipitating out the visible particles then they will not effect the flavour of your beer (unless you are making a beer where the yeast is a key part of the flavour profile - eg Hefe).

Generally it will given time. You can also aid the process by placing the barrel in a cold place to allow the yeast to drop out.
