Hi all,

I'm going to a festival in a few weeks time called Bloodstock... It's worth going just for the pun, but it's also sponsored by Hobgoblin! I'm not a massive fan, but it beats the piss water normally served at festivals like C*****g.

I just wondered what everyone elses thoughts on festivals are? I go most years to this one and have to say its such a laugh. The Mrs doesn't go so it's just a lads weekend drinking, camping shenanigans, watching some of my favourite bands and eating spam from a can because the food is so over priced lol.

Random thread, but I'm just so excited! :D

Can there be a better weekend away?
Yes, anywhere with proper toilets

Yeah, I'm too old/boring (delete as appropriate) for festivals. I love camping and regularly go with my family, but there has to be a shower/loo block that is clean and that you don't have to queue for weeks to get to.

But that's just me. You make sure you have a great time!

Would love to go to download but falls at the wrong time ( it's around our wedding anniversary)

But best weekends away I have had have been romantic/ dirty ones.
I can't think why :hmm:

used to go to the isle of wight festival all the time, bloody brilliant times.

Will be a great festival! You won't regret going, best festival in the UK imo... not too big and has a great, friendly atmos)

The toilets are a little more bearable than the big festivals, though not spotless by any means. They do have showers and things there too.

Maybe my experiences at festivals have been more positive than most (or maybe people who haven't been to one have heard bad things), but I just think a weekend away with the lads is good enough. Throw in the bands, the fun and the drinking, and that by far outweighs any of the negatives. I guess you have like minded friends to make the most of it. Some people do look miserable on day 2 or 3, but nothing a few beers won't solve. :)

I'm with fbsf, so if I ever go to another festival it will be one where I can park the caravan, that way I've got a shower and loo available when I want one, not one I have to plan an hour ahead for , my old bladder doesn't give me that sort of notice anymore :D

I hope you get this current weather and enjoy it.

I tend to do steam festivals now, take the 'van and spend the weekend ssipping beer and looking everything from steam engines to tanks via classic cars and tractor pulling :)

I have worked at over 100+ festivals ont he security teams....I LOVE doing them......
had to cut down loads as now got a full time "proper" job and have to take holiday to work at the festivals....use to do festivals in the summer and door work in the winter

Seen some cracking bands and got paid at the same time :sulk:

Bloodstock is one of the few I'd consider going to in the UK due to the heavy metal line-ups.
I generally go to the fiestas in Spain whereas a lot of my friends like the Wacken or WGT festivals in Germany: better and cheaper beer!

Spray a scarf with body spray, let it dry. Then when you need a dump tie it round your face - no risk of wretching.

That's my trick, I've vomited due to the smell of festival toilets before, and I usually have 5 dumps a day upwards.

Bloodstock does look good, I've been gutted to miss all the usual stops this year - download, glasto. Just couldn't afford it.
And I'm breaking a 5 year streak with Reading because the lineups awful.

I'm really going to miss my festivals this year. Love the taste of a rather warm ale in the morning, on the walk to get a nice van cooked breakfast (or into the town for a good old fry up and a poo at reading) ready for a day of music.

I'm on a carp fishing syndicate on the Catton estate and every year a warning comes out...if you don't like loud music stay away this weekend...needless to say I used to be the only one fishing it, great fishing and great music....sweet
