Just received festival red vienna lager on box and website it says 40 pint kits bit it says in instructions to add water to the 21l mark. Does everyone top it to the 40pint mark or leave it at 21l even the instructions online says 23 l

Its entirely up to you. If you brew to 23 litres (nominally 40 pints) your beer will be as the manufacturer intended. If you want to up the flavours a little (including bitterness) and want a slightly higher ABV reduce the volume. Yours is a premium kit so unlike when you are brewing a one can there is probably less need to brew short.

I was just confused as instructions say 21l but the box says 40 pints wasnt sure if it was mabe a mist print

Just incase anyone has a similar problem I emailed richie products to ask and was told that the correct volume is 23l it's a mistake on the instructions
