fermentation gone nuts

just looked at my pineapple wow and its gone ballistic.. its blown the top off the bubbler and made a right mess in the cupboard .... and the missus just moaned at me for using her best tea towel to wrap round the dj ..

whats the best way to calm it down ??

best if you can put a blow tube on the air lock leading to a jug with a bit of sanitised water in...Let it run off into that

if its still going mental and making a mess could put in a colder place (not too cold or could get a stuck ferment) or move some into a second fv
but most likely mess has been made

also could fit a blow off tube

ok ... just racked back into a clean dj and bubbling once a second or 2. Horizon looking a damn sight better than the bubbly mess it was ....fingers crossed for the morning..

I have this too, I have certain tea towels that I'm allowed to use for brewing purposes and others that I can't. I literally cannot tell the difference and always get it wrong.

The best tea towel is the one your using...............

You could have picked any of the others in the draw...... :nono:

Its the tea towel that goes over the oven door handle and hangs down nicely... never used for its purpose but decoration... but awfully handy place to have one in an emergency..

Used a piece of hose and plugged it into a bung and used a second dj as a bubbler... worked a treat

:thumb: ....necessity is the mother of invention.

Blow off tubes are very handy and are usually required in short notice ! Best to have one made up and kept near the fermenter's where they may be required in a rush....... and a panic...
