Does this normally start strait away or does it take a few hours for it to happen.
Only ask coz i started something of earlier and there is no movement on the air lock.

Also i ran out of steralizer today but am wondering what is best instead of buying the stuff from the brew shop all the time.

cheers in advance guys

Fermentation can sometimes take a couple of days to start... Most of mine have happened within about 18 hours after pitching yeast. So, give it a good 24 hours before worrying imo :thumb:

As for sterilising, some people recommend thin bleach (just for sterilising), or thick bleach for a little added cleaning properties (altho would still need to ensure is thoroughly cleaned imo and not rely on the bleach ;))

Have just got some videne which am gonna use to sterilise my bottles, but not sure how well would work for FV, maybe someone can guide. Would imagine would be fine, just need to ensure is thoroughly cleaned first off...
